Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Keywords are important to how high you rank in search engines. More importantly, for small to mid-size companies, they can make the difference in people finding your company when they do a search.

Unless you have a budget for Professional SEO Services your company probably will never rank high enough to make the first page of most search engines when potential customers are searching the web. With that said, choosing the right keywords for your business and using them in the text and other elements of your website is critical.

Keywords are two to five-word phrases that your potential customers would type into a search engine when looking for a business like yours. When choosing Keyword phrases think about who your target market is and how prospects might search for products/services that you can provide. If your target market is local then include your locale in the phrase. For example: New Hampshire Plumber, Salem, New Hampshire Plumber, Plumber Southern New Hampshire area, etc.

The key to keywords is to think about how people will be searching the web and not just how you would describe your company!
